Community Crime Intervention and Prevention Grant 151

Program: Intervention and Prevention Services at Bemidji High School

This grant supports intervention and prevention services for students at Bemidji High School, including early intervention, truancy support, student reentry, and connections to appropriate community resources.

Programs: Re-engagement Case Management

The Re-engagement Case Manager at J.W. Smith Elementary works directly with students and their families to identify and address barriers that affect school attendance and engagement. The program connects families with resources and provides individualized support to help students regularly attend school and remain engaged in their education.

CCIP 003 also supports BASC’s Attendance Incentive Program. Through this program, BASC provides funding to participating schools to implement creative initiatives that encourage regular attendance, recognize improved attendance, and strengthen students’ connection to their schools.

Restorative Practices Initiative Grant

Program: Diversion Program

This grant supports restorative justice services for youth, harmed parties, families, schools, and community partners. The program focuses on accountability, repairing harm, rebuilding relationships, restitution, and helping youth make positive changes.

CanRenew Grant

Program: UPLIFT Project
Granting agency: Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management
Grantee: Beltrami Area Service Collaborative

The UPLIFT Project provides mentoring, prevention education, substance-free youth activities, and leadership opportunities for Bemidji Middle School students. The program encourages positive decision-making, strengthens school engagement, and gives youth opportunities to help plan activities and share their ideas.

BASC contracts with Beltrami County Public Health to participate in community meetings, provide information about the UPLIFT Project, and support community conversations about substance-use prevention. BASC retains responsibility for the overall management, oversight, reporting, and completion of grant deliverables.

Cannabis and Substance Use Prevention (CSUP) Grant

Rise Above is a youth-led prevention initiative at Bemidji High School that provides cannabis and vaping prevention education, community outreach, school coordination, and youth leadership opportunities.

Beltrami County Public Health contracts with BASC to provide grant-management services and co-facilitate the Rise Above program. BASC assists with program planning, implementation, reporting, coordination, and completion of grant deliverables in partnership with Beltrami County Public Health.
